Lesson & Tuition

Monthly tuition is set at a flat rate year round. Innovative Piano provides private music lessons for 46 out of the 52 weeks per year, with an average of 4 lessons per month. The payment calculation is based on 46 weeks of lessons per year. There will be a total of 6 weeks per year that lessons will NOT be given and are noted on the yearly calendar: Christmas/New Year (2 weeks), Spring Break (1 week), Summer (2 weeks), Thanksgiving (1 week).  IPS also will not be offering lessons on the following holidays:

Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

What to expect

It's very important to  understand that music is a “foreign language” that takes time to learn. Patience and dedication are required to become fluent in the language of music.

What to expect from your instructor:

  • Quality lessons given by a trained and experienced teacher who is also a professional working musician.
  • Weekly private lessons that focus on fundamentals and technique as well as fostering a love for playing the instrument.
  • Organized and detailed practice assignments after each lesson.
  • Direct and open communication.

What is expected of parents and students:

  • Encouragement through positive words fuel a child’s drive to succeed.
  • Listening to music should be a part of a daily routine, even if only in the background.
  • Parents should help their children establish a realistic practice routine during the week.   You will be surprised at what a child can accomplish with five days of practice per week!
  • Students must display a desire to learn and willingness to practice at home.
  • Students who enjoy listening to music will enjoy playing music.
  • Students must be able to respectfully interact with adults.
  • Students need a consistent practice routine that includes reading and completing the assignment details given by Ms. Alicia.

How does tuition work?

Tuition at IPS is different than your average studio. Tuition covers books, materials, and any additional sheet music or repertoire that is provided to you, so you will pay one flat rate fee every month depending on which package you choose. IPS is also a year-round school. The academic school year makes up one session. The summer makes up the other session.   There is time off during the session to allow for major holidays and vacations. The summer sessions are strongly recommended to keep the student progressing.  Also, the only way to guarantee your preferred time slot for fall is to take the summer session.

How do I pay tuition? When is it due?

Tuition may be paid directly through the website (via your Parent/Student portal), Venmo, Zelle, or in person with credit/debit card or cash.

The tuition is due by the 25th of the previous month during the academic session. Summer session may be paid in one lump sum or on the 25th of the previous month. Please also note: A late fee will occur for a payment that is not paid by the due date  Also, if the tuition goes unpaid by end of the month, a student will no longer be able to receive a lesson until the balance is satisfied.  There are system reminders of late payments which my website will auto-generate.   Invoices are sent out on the 10th of each month and late reminders sent out by the system.

Are there additional fees?

Yes!  There is an annual registration fee for every student. An annual registration fee of $25 per student needs to be paid to hold your requested lesson time every year. Your registration fee reserves your spot and I take that time off the market and make it unavailable to other families. This fee also helps cover expenses such as practice prizes and copy prints throughout the year. This Registration fee is due by August 25th. There is also a Recital Fee of $30.00 due in Nov and April to Cover the Winter and Spring Recital. Books and repertoire are all included in your monthly tuition.

Are there makeup lessons?

Makeup lessons are scheduled according to the studio’s availability. It is IPS goal to set aside1-2 days a month that will be dedicated for make up lessons. You will be given this schedule at the beginning of each month. Even with this adjustment, please be mindful makeup lessons aren’t guaranteed. A lesson has been reserved for you each week. Notification of inability to attend a lesson is a courtesy to me, but does not excuse tuition payment. Should I have to cancel lesson due to weather or any other issues, you will be contacted by email, phone, or text.  Innovative Piano Studio will credit your account for the lessons that I cannot provide due to teacher cancellation and tuition amount will be adjusted accordingly. However, if a sickness or need to miss a session does arise, I do ask that you give me a notice as possible.

How sick is "sick?"

If you have the following symptoms or have been exposed to these symptoms within a 48-hour time frame, please DO NOT COME TO THE STUDIO:

• Vomiting

• Diarrhea

• Fever

• Uncontrollable coughing/sneezing

I will be happy reschedule the lesson for you during one of the make up times that are available for that particular month.

How do I register?

Registration is simple and done online.

NEW FAMILIES:  Fill out the registration form (https://innovativepiano.cc/registration )  Once you've filled out this form  please schedule a pre lesson consultation. If your desired time isn't available email info@innovativepiano.cc and allow 48 business hours for a response.

What if I change my mind half way during the session and want to quit?

Students who wish to withdraw from Innovative Piano Studio must provide a 30-day written notice.  Tuition must still be paid for the following month. For example: If a student wishes to withdraw in December, the written notice must be received by November 1st.  November is paid for and the lessons will continue until December 1st.

Are recitals mandatory?

The recitals are not mandatory, however strongly encouraged.  I will assess each student and determine what they may be prepared for.  Participation in these events helps the student in so many ways, even beyond musical growth.  The key in all of these events is: Practice!

What days off does IPS  observe during the school year?

IPS observes Greenville County School System Spring Break, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, the week of Thanksgiving,  and Winter Break to observe Christmas and New Year's Day.  All calendar events will be posted on the website.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read the FAQ section!  Though there are some guidelines, remember, this journey is about fun and enjoyment!  What a blessing it is to have wonderful families like you! Registered students will be notified of any policy updates that may take place.
